Golden Umbrella Celebrates 43 Years of Service with Presentation of Founders’ Award

Redding, CA - Established in 2006, the Founders’ Spirit Award is given each year, acknowledging exemplary contributions to the mission of Golden Umbrella. 

The recipient of the Founders’ Award is an individual who has demonstrated a high degree of passion for seniors and individuals with disabilities.  This individual has actively participated in the success of the organization’s values, and vision. 

Without seeking recognition, compensation or reward, this individual gives their time and energy where the need is greatest.  Creativity and inspiration are the hallmarks of this individual.  This year Golden Umbrella is pleased to present the Founders’ Spirit Award to Dean Haug.

Since 1968 Golden Umbrella has been dedicated to serving Disabled Adults and Seniors.

 

Golden Umbrella is always accepting donations of time, money and goods from generous individuals, groups and businesses who are looking for ways to support seniors and adults with disabilities in their local community.

Golden Umbrella Programs

Program Eligibility Services offered Hours
Adult Day Program 18 years of age and older Non-medical personal care services, supervision and assistance with daily living activities. Meals, entertainment and activities are provided. 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Adult Day Health Care 18 years of age and older Provides care, transportation, social and recreational activities, physical, occupational and speech therapies, meals, therapeutic groups and family support. 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Foster Grandparents & Senior Companions Seniors on a limited income Assist children in various school settings or frail elderly in their homes up to 20 hours per week
Multipurpose Senior Services Program Medi-Cal program for the frail elderly, 65 years of age and older Care management program that helps the frail elderly live an independent life of dignity at home by delaying or preventing institutional placement. Scheduled times vary
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program 55 years of age and older Volunteers serve in the community in schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations. Flexible hours
Senior Services and Resources Seniors and Disabled adults Provides information, assistance and referral, Representative Payee service, assistance with problem resolution, telephone assurance, caregiver and handymen workers lists. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

  

 

 

 

FREE INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE

FREE E-FILING

AARP TAX-AIDE Volunteers are available to assist seniors, disabled or low income folks prepare their state and federal tax returns free of charge from February 1st to April 15th at several locations throughout Shasta County:

To compensate for the high cost of energy, seniors may feel they have no choice but to give up food, medications, phone and cable in order to pay their gas and heating bill.

Power to Seniors uses resources to reach out to seniors to help them with their energy needs.

Red Boxes to Help Seniors

 

Redding, CA – Golden Umbrella (GU) has implemented a new fundraising effort to benefit its Seniors Programs.  GU staff has placed “Red Boxes” in businesses throughout Shasta County to help raise funds for these important community programs.  

The Golden Umbrella staff would like to thank GU’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteer Myron Kreger for building the red boxes and the businesses currently participating in the Red Box Program.  Businesses that would like to participate in the program are encouraged to contact GU at 223-6034.
