- Adult Day Care
- The Adult Day Care Center provides non-medical care to persons 18
years of age and older who need personal care services, supervision
and assistance with daily living activities on less than a 24 hour
basis. Meals, entertainment and activities are provided.
ADC is open Monday through Friday, except holidays. Hours are
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Adult Day Health Care
- Adult Day Health Care is a community-based program that provides
care, transportation, social and recreational activities, physical,
occupational and speech therapies, a noon hot meal, therapeutic groups
and family support. Any adult eighteen years of age or older
whose health problems are such that support services are needed to
maintain independence is eligible to enroll. ADHC is open Monday
through Friday, except holidays. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Alzheimer's Day Care
- Shasta County's only certified Alzheimer's Day Care and Resource
Center. The ADCRC program was initiated to help meet the respite
needs of unpaid caregivers and provide a meaningful experience for
persons with dementia. It was designed to provide a service for
persons who frequently are not accepted by existing service
programs. There are no age, financial or other qualifications
for eligibility to participate. Alzheimer's Day Care is a
program operated by the Golden Umbrella through a grant from the State
of California Department of Aging, the Planning and Service Area 2
Agency on Aging, local donations and fund raising.
- Foster Grandparents & Senior
Companions
- These programs offer seniors on a limited income an opportunity to
assist children or other senior citizens. Participants are
screened, trained, placed at a volunteer station and, while serving,
receive a small stipend for each hour of service and mileage
reimbursement which is not taxed or considered income in order
to qualify for any other senior programs. Foster Grandparents spend
up to 20 hours a week working with at risk children in various school
settings, while Senior Companions assist frail elderly in their homes.
- Linkages
- The Linkages Program is funded through the California Department of
Aging, and the Area Agency on Aging. Linkages goal is to help
the frail elderly and disabled adults live an independent life of
dignity at home by delaying or preventing institutional
placement. Linkages provides information and referral assistance
for the elderly and disabled on a variety of long-term care
issues. The Linkages program serves Shasta, Lassen, Trinity, and
Siskiyou counties.
- MSSP
- MSSP (Multipurpose Senior Services Program) is a Medi-Cal program,
funded through the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. and
the Department of Health Services in the State of California. MSSP's goal is
to help the frail elderly live an independent life of dignity at home by
delaying or preventing institutional placement. the MSSP serves Shasta,
Lassen, Trinity, and Siskiyou counties.

RSVP
- The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a
difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers
contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving
through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and
other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community
needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers.
RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with
opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental
insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or
organization where volunteers are placed.

Supportive Services & Outreach
- Golden Umbrella Advocates serve senior citizens and disabled adults
of Shasta County by providing in-home supportive services, assessment,
referral, Representative Payee services and assistance with problem
resolution. The Advocates work closely with other agencies and
organizations to assure the safety of participants and that all needed
services are provided.
